MeetingMemo meeting transcript, summary, and action items on Mac

No bot in the room

Nothing joins your call, nobody's notified

Audio stays on your Mac

Recorded and transcribed on your device

AI your way

Instant hosted summaries, or run it all on-device

Sound familiar?

01

It all goes to their cloud

Granola, Otter, and Fathom upload your audio, transcript, and notes to their servers.

02

Their AI reads it all

Every summary is generated in someone else's cloud, on an account you don't control.

03

A bot in every call

A note-taker joins as a participant - and everyone on the call can see it.

04

Off-limits for real work

Legal, health, and regulated teams can't hand confidential calls to a third party.

Your recordings and transcripts are made entirely on your Mac - no bot in the call, no audio uploaded, nothing feeding someone else's model. Turn on AI summaries and you choose how: fully on your Mac, our hosted service, or your own provider key. Even then only the text leaves, only if you ask, and no one keeps a copy.

No bot

No bot ever joins your call

Otter, Fireflies, and Read.ai send a bot into your meeting - a silent guest everyone can see, recording to their cloud. MeetingMemo records what your Mac hears instead. Nobody gets added, nobody gets a notification, and there's no virtual audio driver to install.

Nothing joins the meeting

No participant, no notification, no awkwardness - your meeting stays your meeting.

Both sides, captured cleanly

Your mic and the call's audio together (You + Others), with no BlackHole or Loopback to set up.

Works everywhere your Mac plays sound

Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, FaceTime - even a phone on speaker.

On-Device Transcription

Transcribed on your Mac, not in someone's cloud

Two on-device engines - Apple SpeechTranscriber and WhisperKit (99 languages) - turn speech into text live, right on the Neural Engine. The transcript appears as people talk, and your audio is never uploaded to be transcribed.

You vs Others

Captures both sides of every call

MeetingMemo records your microphone and the system audio at the same time, so the whole conversation is captured. Your voice is labeled You, everyone else is Others - no guessing, no diarization, just clean two-sided transcripts.

AI Summaries & Action Items

Private summaries, your way

MeetingMemo writes your title, summary, and action items - and you decide where the AI runs. Keep it fully on-device so nothing leaves your Mac, use our hosted service that stores nothing, or connect any provider you like for the strongest models. Whatever you pick, only text is ever involved - never your audio.

Chat
What did we decide on pricing?

Chat With the Meeting

Ask your meeting anything

Forgot what you agreed on? Just ask. "What did we decide on pricing?" "What did I commit to?" MeetingMemo chats with that meeting's transcript and nothing else - no web, no other meetings. It runs on our hosted service, your local model, or your own cloud key, keeps a thread per meeting, and syncs across your Macs through your private iCloud.

Calendar Integration

Knows your schedule, never records without asking

MeetingMemo reads your calendar to name meetings, link recordings, and show who's attending. One minute before a call it asks if you'd like to record - it never starts on its own. Recording is always your decision.

iCloud Sync

Private iCloud Sync

Syncs across your Macs through your private iCloud

Meetings, transcripts, action items, and audio sync between your Macs through your own private iCloud - never a MeetingMemo server. Works fully offline too, with everything kept on-device.

Privacy

Exactly what happens to your data

Three simple truths about where your meetings live.

Audio stays on your Mac

Your recordings never leave your device. Ever.

On-device by default

Transcription and summaries run on your Mac; text leaves only if you pick a hosted or cloud option.

Sync on your terms

Data syncs only through your own private iCloud, if you turn it on.

Your audio never reaches a server we run - so there's nothing for us to leak, subpoena, or breach.

Read the Privacy Policy

Built for people who can't put meetings in the cloud

If confidentiality is part of your job, your conversations deserve to stay on your Mac.

FAQ

Questions, answered

The real things people ask before trusting a meeting recorder - answered straight, including the limits.

Does it record both sides of a Zoom, Teams, or Google Meet call?
Yes. MeetingMemo captures your microphone and the call's audio together, at the system level - both sides of any meeting, and you don't need to be the host. There's no BlackHole, Loopback, or virtual audio driver to set up.
Does a bot join my call?
No. MeetingMemo records what your Mac hears, like a local recorder. Nothing joins the meeting, no extra participant appears, and nobody gets a notification.
Does my audio ever leave my Mac? Does it work offline?
Your audio is recorded and transcribed entirely on your Mac and is never sent to any server - recording and transcription work fully offline, and AI summaries can too when you run them on-device. The only things that ever leave are optional: iCloud sync (to your own private iCloud) and, if you turn on AI summaries, the text transcript - sent either to our zero-retention hosted service or to the provider you chose. Your audio always stays on your Mac.
Do you train AI on my meetings?
No. Your audio never leaves your Mac, and any text sent for AI summaries is never stored or trained on - our hosted service runs under zero data retention, and with your own key the text goes to that provider under your own account's terms. There's nothing for anyone to train on, and no "opt out of training" setting to remember.
Do I need my own AI provider, and does it cost extra?
No. MeetingMemo's AI runs three ways: our hosted service that just works with no setup and no extra cost (text only, nothing stored), fully on-device on your Mac (nothing leaves at all), or your own cloud key (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, and others), where that provider bills you for what you use. Summaries, action items, and chat all work whichever path you pick. Recording and transcription need none of them - without AI set up, MeetingMemo still records and keeps the raw transcript on your Mac.
Can AI summaries really run 100% on my Mac?
Yes. MeetingMemo can run summaries, action items, and chat with an on-device model, so nothing leaves your Mac at all - and you can connect the free Ollama app to run larger local models. One honest caveat: local models are weaker than the big cloud ones, so pick the largest your Mac runs well - MeetingMemo recommends one and warns you if your choice is too small for reliable summaries.
Which AI providers can I use, and where does my transcript go?
Three options. Use our hosted MeetingMemo service - no setup, text only, nothing stored (zero retention). Run AI on-device - nothing leaves your Mac, with Ollama available for larger local models. Or bring your own key from Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI, Google Gemini, and other major providers, or a compatible custom endpoint - the text goes to that provider under your own account, and your key stays in your Keychain. Whatever you pick, only text is ever sent, never your audio, and you can keep calendar attendee names out of the requests.
How accurate is the transcription, and which languages does it support?
It uses Whisper-class on-device engines (WhisperKit and Apple's SpeechTranscriber). On clear speech it's on par with the leading cloud services, across about 99 languages with automatic detection. Heavy accents, crosstalk, and noisy rooms lower accuracy, as with any tool.
Can it tell who said what?
It labels your voice as You and everyone else as Others by separating your mic from the call's audio - clean attribution for 1:1s and small calls. It doesn't name each individual person in a large group (there's no full speaker diarization in v1).
What does it cost - is there a trial?
Every feature is free for 30 days, then $29.99/year on the Mac App Store, with Family Sharing for up to 6. It's a subscription, not a one-time purchase - that covers ongoing updates and iCloud sync. There's no permanently free tier.
What do I need to run it?
A Mac with Apple Silicon (M-series) on macOS 26 (Tahoe) or later, plus about 2 GB free for the app and a transcription model. AI summaries work out of the box with our hosted service - or run them on-device, or with your own cloud provider key. It doesn't run on Intel Macs or earlier macOS versions.
Do I have to tell people I'm recording?
Recording laws vary by where you and the other participants are - some places require everyone's consent. You're responsible for following the law where you are, and we recommend always letting people know before you record.
Can I get my data out, and does it sync between my Macs?
Anytime. Export any meeting as Markdown, text, JSON, or XML, and download the audio - transcripts are also saved as plain Markdown on disk. Your library syncs across your Macs through your own iCloud.
