Sound familiar?

01

It all goes to their cloud

Granola, Otter, and Fathom upload your audio, transcript, and notes to their servers.

02

Their AI reads it all

Every summary is generated in someone else's cloud, on an account you don't control.

03

A bot in every call

A note-taker joins as a participant — and everyone on the call can see it.

04

Off-limits for real work

Legal, health, and regulated teams can't hand confidential calls to a third party.

MeetingMemo records and transcribes entirely on your Mac — no bot, no audio upload, nothing trains someone else's model. AI summaries are optional and run on your own provider key, so only the text transcript ever leaves, and only to the provider you choose. We never see it.

No bot

No bot ever joins your call

Otter, Fireflies, and Read.ai send a bot into your meeting — a silent guest everyone can see, recording to their cloud. MeetingMemo records what your Mac hears instead. Nobody gets added, nobody gets a notification, and there's no virtual audio driver to install.

Nothing joins the meeting

No participant, no notification, no awkwardness — your meeting stays your meeting.

Both sides, captured cleanly

Your mic and the call's audio together (You + Others), with no BlackHole or Loopback to set up.

Works everywhere your Mac plays sound

Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, FaceTime — even a phone on speaker.

On-Device Transcription

Transcribed on your Mac, not in someone's cloud

Two on-device engines — Apple SpeechTranscriber and WhisperKit (99 languages) — turn speech into text live, right on the Neural Engine. The transcript appears as people talk, and your audio is never uploaded to be transcribed.

You vs Others

Captures both sides of every call

MeetingMemo records your microphone and the system audio at the same time, so the whole conversation is captured. Your voice is labeled You, everyone else is Others — no guessing, no diarization, just clean two-sided transcripts.

AI Summaries & Action Items

Summaries and action items on your own AI key

Connect your own cloud provider key — Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini, and more — and MeetingMemo writes your title, summary, and action items. Only the text transcript is ever sent, never the audio, and never to a MeetingMemo server. No key? The app still records and transcribes on your Mac and keeps the raw transcript — AI is simply off until you add one.

Chat With the Meeting

Ask your meeting anything

Forgot what you agreed on? Just ask. "What did we decide on pricing?" "What did I commit to?" MeetingMemo chats with that meeting's transcript and nothing else — no web, no other meetings. It runs on your own cloud key, keeps a thread per meeting, and syncs across your Macs through your private iCloud.

Calendar Integration

Knows your schedule, never records without asking

MeetingMemo reads your calendar to name meetings, link recordings, and show who's attending. One minute before a call it asks if you'd like to record — it never starts on its own. Recording is always your decision.

iCloud Sync

Private iCloud Sync

Syncs across your Macs through your private iCloud

Meetings, transcripts, action items, and audio sync between your Macs through your own private iCloud — never a MeetingMemo server. Works fully offline too, with everything kept on-device.

Privacy

Exactly what happens to your data

What stays on your Mac, what leaves only if you ask it to, and what never happens.

Stays on your Mac

  • Your audio, recordings, and transcripts
  • Recording and on-device transcription
  • Your cloud AI key, if you use one

Leaves only if you ask

  • iCloud sync — to your own private iCloud
  • AI summaries — only the text transcript, to the provider you pick

Never happens

  • No MeetingMemo server ever sees your data
  • No bot, no account, no tracking, no ads

Your audio never reaches a server we run — so there's nothing for us to leak, subpoena, or breach.

Built for people who can't put meetings in the cloud

If confidentiality is part of your job, your conversations deserve to stay on your Mac.

FAQ

Questions, answered

The real things people ask before trusting a meeting recorder — answered straight, including the limits.

Does it record both sides of a Zoom, Teams, or Google Meet call?
Yes. MeetingMemo captures your microphone and the call's audio together, at the system level — both sides of any meeting, and you don't need to be the host. There's no BlackHole, Loopback, or virtual audio driver to set up.
Does a bot join my call?
No. MeetingMemo records what your Mac hears, like a local recorder. Nothing joins the meeting, no extra participant appears, and nobody gets a notification.
Does my audio ever leave my Mac? Does it work offline?
Your audio is recorded and transcribed entirely on your Mac and is never sent to a MeetingMemo server — recording and transcription work fully offline. The only things that ever leave are optional: iCloud sync (to your own private iCloud) and, if you turn on AI summaries, the text transcript — sent to the cloud provider you chose, never to us.
Do you train AI on my meetings?
No. We never receive your audio or transcripts, so there's nothing for us to train on — and no "opt out of training" setting to remember. If you use AI summaries, the text goes to the provider you picked, under your own account's terms.
Do I need my own AI provider, and does it cost extra?
AI summaries, action items, and chat need your own cloud provider key (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, and others), and that provider bills you for what you use — only the text transcript is sent, never the audio. Recording and transcription don't need a key and are always included: without one, MeetingMemo still records and keeps the raw transcript on your Mac.
Which AI providers can I use, and where does my transcript go?
Bring your own key from Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI, Google Gemini, and other major providers, or a compatible custom endpoint. You pick the provider; MeetingMemo sends only the text transcript to it under your own account, your key stays in your Keychain, and nothing routes through a MeetingMemo server. You can also keep calendar attendee names out of those requests.
How accurate is the transcription, and which languages does it support?
It uses Whisper-class on-device engines (WhisperKit and Apple's SpeechTranscriber). On clear speech it's on par with the leading cloud services, across about 99 languages with automatic detection. Heavy accents, crosstalk, and noisy rooms lower accuracy, as with any tool.
Can it tell who said what?
It labels your voice as You and everyone else as Others by separating your mic from the call's audio — clean attribution for 1:1s and small calls. It doesn't name each individual person in a large group (there's no full speaker diarization in v1).
What does it cost — is there a trial?
Every feature is free for 30 days, then $19/year on the Mac App Store, with Family Sharing for up to 6. It's a subscription, not a one-time purchase — that covers ongoing updates and iCloud sync. There's no permanently free tier.
What do I need to run it?
A Mac with Apple Silicon (M-series) on macOS 26 (Tahoe) or later, plus about 2 GB free for the app and a transcription model. AI summaries need your own cloud provider key. It doesn't run on Intel Macs or earlier macOS versions.
Do I have to tell people I'm recording?
Recording laws vary by where you and the other participants are — some places require everyone's consent. You're responsible for following the law where you are, and we recommend always letting people know before you record.
Can I get my data out, and does it sync between my Macs?
Anytime. Export any meeting as Markdown, text, JSON, or XML, and download the audio — transcripts are also saved as plain Markdown on disk. Your library syncs across your Macs through your own iCloud.
